About Us

Walk through the doors of Audrey’s Attic and look through shelves and trunks of curiosities and antiques. Unlike most attics, this one is graced with scents of cinnamon, vanilla, and mulberry. It is, in fact, not an attic - but a country store - at 147 N. Main Street, in downtown Orrville, Ohio owned and operated by Audrey Merkle of Dalton, Ohio.

Audrey’s unique country store features primitives, folk-art, pottery, candles, and unique seasonal items. She has a wide selection of clocks, lamps, and kitchen decor, as well as many themed sections, including americana, cats, nautical, farm, birdhouses, garden accents, a nice selection of cards and calendars, and so much more. Some of her more interesting curios include antique reproductions of mechanical cast iron banks and vintage balance toys.

You get a good feeling as soon as you walk through the door from the smells and atmosphere. You will enjoy seeing the uniquely painted floors and walls and other special touches, like a built in greenhouse filled with wreathes, garlands, and silk flowers that look so real that people are tempted to lean over and smell them. The personal touch you get from Audrey and the girls, will make you feel right at home.

Before opening the Attic, Audrey’s interests in home decorations and prairie primitive styles led her to look high and low for the best deals on antiques and unique country items for decorating. As her husband, Chuck, will tell you, those years of shopping finally came in handy as she began to dream about a store that had everything that she loved in one place.

In the spring of 2000, Audrey and her husband began the search for a location to make her dream a reality. Her daughter, April, spotted a building for rent right in downtown Orrville. The location was perfect and right on the corner of Main Street next to the courthouse. Audrey could just imagine beautifully decorated corner windows that would catch your eye while sitting at the stop light.

Audrey spent months gathering great finds at more reasonable prices than the average country store. She opened the doors of Audrey’s Attic on July 1st, 2000. She has expanded her store twice since then and now has over 5000 sq ft of retail space.

People are pleasantly surprised at the size and selection of items in the store. Audrey prides herself on finding unique items at reasonable prices.
